Usually the Slider lure is caught with a jerking retrieve. The jerks with the spinning rod should be very energetic and quick. It is desirable to make several test casts in clear water before starting fishing to see the Slider‘s reaction to spinning rod actions. It is important not to slacken the line after each jerk to maintain constant contact with the lure, sliding from side to side, which also prevents the line from tangling with the front hook.

Slider is also amazingly good for trolling in shallow water. You need to let it out 10–30 m behind the boat and make jerks with the spinning rod every few seconds, exactly the same as with a normal jerking retrieve.
