Shimano Aero XR is a series of lightweight and durable spinning reels that incorporate the best technological solutions: X-SHIP, Silent Drive, G-Free Body, and others.

Construction

Shimano Aero XR reels are designed in black color and a restrained style, giving them a presentable appearance. The body and rotor are made of CI4+ carbon fiber. The material provides the models with a very light weight (210-255 g) while maintaining strength, which allows for complete control over the caught fish.

Thanks to the G-Free Body technology used in the design, the center of gravity of the reel is shifted towards the fisherman’s hand. This makes it possible to further reduce the perceived weight of the product and better balance the tackle.

Inside the reel, an X-SHIP drive mechanism is installed. It uses 2 additional bearings to stabilize the components’ operation. Due to this, the reel can withstand greater loads.

The HAGANE GEAR, made of brass using cold forging method, provides Aero XR models with greater strength and smoothness of movement. For greater comfort, the Silent Drive technology is used in the products, which minimizes handle play, ensures quiet operation of mechanisms, and a soft and smooth movement.

The spool is light, with numerous holes. It is made using the AR-C Spool technology, therefore it has a V-shaped edge that allows the line to run freely. This ensures the possibility of making an accurate cast. Due to this design, the line comes off the spool in small loops during the casting process. As a result, friction is reduced, and casting distance and accuracy are increased. The friction brake is located at the front. It is fine-tuned, works softly and smoothly, and is equipped with oversized discs. Friction adjustment is carried out through a convenient and large screw. The reel handle is screwable and can be moved from one side to the other. The type of handle depends on the model. The Aero C300 has a slightly curved, small handle, while the Aero 4000 and C5000 have a T-shaped handle.

The handle drives the rotor and the arc-shaped line guide. The first received a new Magnumlite design, which ensures easy rotation. And the line guide wire is solid, SR type, located on the opposite side of the line roller, which improves balance.

Features

The main features of the Shimano Aero series reels are:

1. Strong and very light CI4+ body.

2. Low gear ratio (5.0:1 or 4.7:1 – depending on the model), which allows reducing the load when catching large fish.

3. Five S A-RB bearings, which are protected from corrosion, and one roller bearing.

4. Ultra-precise friction brake, which has a reverse rotation switch, a wide range of adjustments and a power of up to 11 kg, which allows obtaining absolute control during retrieval.

5. AR-Lever system, which allows the fisherman to disable the anti-reverse function and let the reel rotate backwards.

Aero XR reels are supplied in a cardboard box with practical adapters. Thanks to these, you can use thin lines and braids without resorting to ground bait. In addition, the kit includes a spare aluminum spool, similar to the main one.
